I have to say that although I understand why terms like Hot Chanie and sheitel hooker were coined, I find them horribly offensive that anyone came up with them. And I don't understand, what's the deal with sheitels being sexy? They look like the hair of someone who is neat and put together and is not too cheap to go out and get their hair done once in a while. That's how people are supposed to look. Do you ever call unmarried girls' hair sexy this and sexy that? Okay maybe it's because I'm female, but hair has never caused me to think about sex -- it can look nice, beautiful even, but not sexy. What if the sheitel is very similar to her natural hair -- suddenly it's sexy, when she wasn't sexy before? Or are women supposed to look frumpy after they get married?

Yes, the terms were undoubtably coined to be offensive in nature. I don't think there's much argument there. Having said this though, there is a bit of a difference between whether or not it's a man or woman uttering the phase. When women check each other out it's something of a competition and it has nothing to do with the Sheitel. The fact is that the sheitel defines the woman as being married. Add on to that the tight shirt, short skirt and thigh high boots and you've got the sheitel hooker.
Now, when a FRUM women passes by a Sheitel hooker and looks her up and down basically that's the jealous 'she's a sheitel hooker'. As if to say, bot if I looked like that, I'd probably flaunt it too.
Moving toward the male gender, it's fairly obivious that all guys are horny, so calling someone a Sheitel hooker or hot chani, while being ooffensive, is also something of a compliment. Since there's really little to be done about the matter here's my suggestion.
Next time you hear someone say this in public (especially when it's said about YOU) just turn around and say 'yeah, in your dreams buddy' and walk away with the knowledge that in some strange way the negative comment was actually a euphamistic praise for one of g-ds creations.

Whether or not you agree with it, that is the popular (male) perception of girls from those schools, and since this site is meant to be informational (as well as humorous) the definitions are most likely going to stay.

What the heck does this word mean? I never heard of it before, so whoever added this page should maybe do us all a favor & define it as well, there's not much use for a word without a definition......

Sunday deadline to give in the definition. If not the word goes. But I don't think the word exists.

When people transliterate words like "Hasid" some people use "Ch" and others just use "H". There are many words like this in Hebrew/Yiddish/Yinglish, therefore for the sake of consistency I think we should choose one of these two now and stick with it.
My suggestion is that we follow Wikipedia and only use the "H". "Ch" is more hamish, but Wikipedia is a standard worth following and defining the same words they do may help make this site more (search) relevant.
Thoughts???

Yes, if we add as tags all the possible spellings of a word, a search for any of those spellings will yield the correct page.

It's really embarrassing the way people can grow up these and have jobs and never learn how to spell. The sign should read, 'The Purple Pair'.

I think we should hold that idea for at least 2 weeks until this place fills up nicely. I think the progress is really great so far for two days. Then we can think of categories.
